Land values in Istanbul continue to rise. Determined at 9.4 trillion Turkish Lira in 2018, Istanbul's land value reached 23.4 trillion Turkish Lira by the end of 2020, representing a record increase of 149 percent.

According to the Istanbul Land Value research report prepared by Tapu Sor, the total land value of Istanbul has increased in both Turkish Lira and US Dollars. While the total size of Istanbul is stated as 5,343 km², the area is reduced to 4,543 km² after excluding sections such as lakes, roads, and areas that cannot be sold.

According to the figures released, the total sale price of all land plots in the 39 districts of Istanbul increased by 149 percent by the end of 2020, reaching 23.4 trillion Turkish Lira. This figure, calculated in dollar terms, was 2.5 trillion dollars in 2018 and rose to 2.7 trillion dollars by the end of 2020.

Looking at prices by district, Şişli and Beyoğlu districts in Istanbul recorded the most expensive land plots. In Şişli district, which is home to numerous neighborhoods with extremely high real estate prices such as Fulya, Teşvikiye, Mecidiyeköy, and Halaskargazi, the average land price per square meter was calculated at 28,270 Turkish Lira.
