Kağıthane's central location and housing projects.
The district stands out thanks to its central location and housing projects, as well as urban transformation and other real estate projects, and developments in transportation such as the Metro, Kağıthane and Dolmabahçe Tunnels, the 3rd bridge, the 3rd airport, and the three-story tunnel (Great Istanbul Tunnel).
Kağıthane is a district on the European side of Istanbul. It is bordered by Sarıyer to the north, Beşiktaş to the northeast, Şişli to the east and south, Beyoğlu to the southwest, and Eyüpsultan to the west. The district has a short coastline on the Golden Horn where the Kağıthane Stream ends.
The terrain is rugged, consisting of streams and valleys. These areas are used as residential areas.
The district takes its name from a stream that flows into the Golden Horn in Istanbul, and from the old paper mills located in its valley. In addition to these mills, it is known that there were also flour mills and gunpowder factories in the area, and training grounds for javelin games and archery in the flat regions. Today, numerous residential and office projects are being implemented in every neighborhood of the district. Already bordering the developed areas of the European side of Istanbul, Kağıthane is integrated with Ayazağa-Maslak via the Cendere axis-Seyrantepe to the north; Levent and Şişli to the east; Eyüp to the west; and Beyoğlu-Taksim to the south.
The district is also home to the new building of the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives, as well as private universities and schools.
In the center of Kağıthane, you can find the Küçük Kemal Children's Stage and the Sadabad Stage of the City Theaters, which is under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In addition, there are cultural centers belonging to the district municipality.
