Seventy percent of the $6,595,664,000 in exports during the January-October period was made by companies operating in the automotive and chemical sectors. Izmit, considered the gateway to Turkey and home to Europe's seventh largest port, is located around Kocaeli Province and has 35 port facilities.
In the first ten months of this year, exports were made to 180 countries from this region. During this period, the UK was the top export destination from Kocaeli province, with exports totaling $815,711,000.
Slovenia ranks second with $747,552,000, and Germany is third with $735,700,000. They are followed by Belgium with $619,965,000, Italy with $576,027,000, and France with $556,284,000.
